Casts 65+ yards with ease. I catch a lot of catfish where i fish (not by choice ofcourse) it reels the the 10-15 pounders in with out any problem. Dont really use the fish alert unless im using more than one pole but thats what its for right? This review is from: Zebco 7-foot Hawg Seeker Spinning Reel Fishing Combo (Sports) The fishing pole is awesome in design. Ideal for bank fishing. The handle and wide eyelets makes it easy to make long smooth casts from the bank which is needed to help prevent throwing bait such as chicken livers from the bank. I gave four stars because I havent taken it fishing yet and dont know how the reel and rod will fair fighting catfish. I will update once I have. So far practice casts around the house have earned it a 4 star rating!!! This review is from: Zebco 7-foot Hawg Seeker Spinning Reel Fishing Combo (Sports) I overnight-ed this combo for a big fishing trip for memorial holiday. I was so upset with the outcome. The bite alert did not work it would beep sporadically with no hits or when pulling out of the water. The manual stated the rod need to basically be in a straight forward position that did not help. Also reel kept locking up I am returning as we speak. The rod is such a great looking and feeling rod I was very disappointed. Good Luck!
