Better than Curado, June 29, 2010 By  Richard Durbin - See all my reviews    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Daiwa TD153 Tierra Baitcasting Reel (Misc.) This is the second Daiwa Tierra I have bought in the last year. I use one for casting Zoom Horny Toads on 50# Power Pro braid. Backlashes are darned near a thing of the past and I can cast a mile. I am using the new one for fishing Texas rigged soft plastics. I do a lot of pitching and this reel handles that task better than anything else I have used. I own a Shimano E5 Curado and, although it is an extremely popular reel, it is not nearly the reel the Tierra is. The Curado is a little bit smoother, but the Tierra is smoother than any other reel I own except the Curado. The big advantage is the braking system on the Tierra is much easier to adjust and is capable of much more precise adjustments than the Curado.
