Casts like a dream. With the stock red brake blocks I get 425-450 feet with 4 oz. of lead and just a little effort (surf casting with a Lamiglas xs11mhc). With one red and one clear, I get close to 500 feet, but it's a hair away from catastrophe, or that's how it feels. If you can cast at all, it won't be long until you're saying to yourself, "I've never cast that far before...!" The drag feels really, really good - unlike some other reels, where I've had to take the drag apart and grease the washers in order to get a civilized drag, this one worked perfectly right out of the box. I've read other people complain about the gearbox on this reel, but I don't see what the fuss is about - it presents no trouble for me at all. I'd definitely buy another - highly recommended.
